The White Horse, Eaton Bray |
The White Horse is a traditional village inn (approximately 300 years old) with oak beams, horse brasses, etc. which has been run by David and Janet Sparrow for the past 20 years. They are both active members of the British Institute of Innkeeping, the professional body which aims to achieve the highest standards in the Licensed Trade.
During their time at The White Horse, they have built a great reputation for home cooked food, especially fresh seafood, as well as an exciting and innovative range of à la carte meals. There is also a superb selection of daily specials to suit all tastes and reflect the seasons.
David Sparrow CMBII, was formerly a Brewery Area Manager and also spent many years in the wine trade as a lecturer on wines and spirits. So it will come as no surprise that there is a grand selection of well over thirty wines (many from New World Countries) available by the bottle including eight available by the glass.
Janet Sparrow FBII, who trained in Institutional Management and Catering in Edinburgh and spent many years in a wide range of catering and hotel management roles, now oversees the restaurant and bar food service.
Reservations: At busy times of the week, especially weekends, it is advisable to book a table if you wish to dine in the restaurant. You may also book tables in the bar area at lunchtimes and up to 7.45pm in the evenings.
Smoking For those who wish to have a "puff" there is a heated, sheltered area outside.
Children. Children under 14 years of age are not allowed in the bar area. For younger children, there is an excellent play area in the large garden. Children are also welcome in the restaurant, however this is often very busy so it is advisable to check beforehand at peak times. We regret that children under the age of 13 cannot be accommodated in the Restaurant on Friday and Saturday Nights.
